What is mezzanine finance?

Mezzanine finance is a type of funding which sits behind a senior debt facility or “first charge” loan. A property developer will sometime use mezzanine finance to reduce the amount of capital which they are required to contribute to a property development scheme.

How much does mezzanine finance cost?

Mezzanine finance is priced on a bespoke basis. Most mezzanine funders will require an overview of the proposed funding facility and then they will make an offer. Mezzanine finance is normally more expensive than development finance facilities which range from 0.5% to 1.5% per month.
